Oh, so there’s no Jack Black in the second Goosebumps film? No Dylan Minette or Odeya Rush? Welp, what else is there to look forward to in the Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween film then? Here are five reasons why you should still watch Goosebumps 2:
#1. New Cast
Just because Jack Black, Odeya Rush, and Dylan Minette from the first film aren’t coming back doesn’t mean that the second film won’t be as fun. There’s a new cast that’ll liven up the Halloween! Jeremy Ray Taylor from It and Caleel Harris from Castle Rock take up the lead role of Goosebumps 2. Other stellar cast members include Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians), Chris Parnell (Archer), Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), and Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle).
#2. Slappy’s Return
There’s only one walking and talking ventriloquist’s dummy spreading terror during the Halloween season – that’s Slappy the Dummy! Of course, he hates being called a dummy so let’s keep it a secret that we called him that. Slappy the Dummy will be returning as the main antagonist just like in the first film. This time around, he’ll take a shot at making Halloween last forever.
#3. New Monsters
Aside from Slappy, there are old and new monsters appearing in the latest film. According to rumors, a resurrected Nikola Tesla will be appearing to help Slappy spread terror in Wardenclyffe. As per the trailer, old monsters such as the Abominable Snowman and the Werewolf of Fever Swamp comes back to life to go on a monster rampage. For new monsters, vicious gummy bears, angry skeleton brides, broom-wielding witches, flying Jack-o-Lanterns, and flame-spewing pumpkins are just some of the abominations to look forward to.
#4. 62 Books, 400 Million Copies
R.L. Stine’s popularity as a writer of child-friendly horror manuscripts had never diminished over the years. His Goosebumps series has even become a classic already. For the record, R.L. Stine has penned 62 books and sold 400 million copies worldwide!
#5. Screenplay by Rob Lieber
So Rob Lieber may not be the screenwriter with lots of screenplays under his belt yet. In fact, IMDb listed only two movies aside from Goosebumps 2, namely Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) and Peter Rabbit (2018). Despite his limited screenplay credits, both Alexander and Peter Rabbit are international box office hits. If Rob Lieber can produce a box office screenplay, then we can definitely expect a lot from the Goosebumps 2 movie that he’s writing a screenplay for!
There you go! These are just five of the solid reasons why you should watch the upcoming Goosebumps 2 film. Are you excited? We are!
