R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps is the series that opened the doors to the horror world for the ’90s kids. It can be said that fans who are exposed to Goosebumps have started their indulgence of horror flicks because of the said series. In that sense, their standards for Goosebumps can also be seen in their preference of other media, such as animes. Here are seven must-see animes that Goosebumps fans will surely be happy of.
#1. Parasyte: The Maxim
Parasyte: The Maxim is the anime adaptation of the manga penned by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The story follows the life of 17-year-old Shinichi Izumi. In an unexpected twist, he got possessed by a worm-like creature which he eventually calls Migi. Compared to other Parasites, the two form a bond in which they work together to survive. Shinichi is compelled to fight the other Parasites not only to save himself but also to prevent the Parasites from devouring humans.
Written and illustrated by Kouta Hirano, the manga version of Hellsing inspired the anime adaptation which spanned 13 episodes. Although the settings and characters are grabbed from the manga, the story takes a different plot. The plot of Hellsing follows the story of Abraham Van Helsing with a mission to search and destroy undead and supernatural evil forces threatening the country and the queen.
#3. Tokyo Ghoul
With a tinge of dark fantasy, Tokyo Ghoul puts to light the struggles of college student Ken Kaneki as he slowly transforms into a half-ghoul after getting maliciously transplanted with a ghoul’s organ. This series was adapted from the manga written by Shin Towada and illustrated by Sui Ishida.
#4. Ghost Hunt
Ghost Hunt started as a light novel series before it was adapted into manga which eventually got an anime adaptation. The 25 episodes of the anime feature the ghost hunting adventures of the members of Shibuya Psychic Research (SPR), specifically of first-year high school Mai Taniyama and manager Kazuya Shibuya.

With Hell Girl, you see the terror of having your revenge taken for you with your soul as a compensation. Once your revenge is complete, a hell envoy will come to bring your soul to hell.
#6. Corpse Party: Tortured Soul
Corpse Party: Tortured Soul is a survival horror flick revolving around a group of Japanese high schoolers who gets transported to a dilapidated schoolhouse just right after telling scary ghost stories. In that schoolhouse, they aim to survive the ghosts that haunt the place and get back to their original world
With two seasons released, Gantz is an anime adaptation of the novel written by Hiroya Oku. It tells of the story of the people who die and get transported to participate in a grueling match against powerful enemies.
