A new rendition of Hellboy is in the works and ever since the trailer was released, a lot of speculations have arisen. This includes questions about how this movie would pan out even after the fact that this is going to be more of a remake, with the film first released way back in 2004.
Well, to clarify things a little bit, it would seem like the director and the producers have put a wedge in between the two, stating that this version of Hellboy (2019) is going to be more of a “horror” movie rather than a “superhero” one – a clarification that seems to make people a little more excited for this rendition.
We all know that being the big, red, gun-wielding fella that he is, the superhero look is unavoidable, especially when he’s aided by his other powerful friends too. In the realistic side, Hellboy wasn’t really depicted as a superhero. Sure, he battled numerous villains, but it’s mostly because it had something to do with him.
The director specifically said that the upcoming film is going to be more than a superhero movie. It’s going to be more “horror-y” and has a lot of monster-like elements to it. It’s also not going to be completely gloomy as it’s going to have some humor injected.
Hellboy is set to release on April 12, 2019, and it stars David Harbour (Stranger Things), Mila Jovovich, Sasha Lane, and Daniel Dae Kim. It is based on the works of Mike Mignola and is directed by Neil Marshall. Check out the official trailer below:
