Mortal Engines was quite the talk of the town when it was released and it’s not just because of its gorgeous visuals and cinematic scoring but also because of its rather extensive cast and characters. The protagonists were something but let’s not leave our antagonists out because sometimes, they tell more of a story than any other character in a movie.

Take for example, Shrike. Well, Shrike is not as complicated as people perceive him to be. He was once a normal human who went by the name Kit. He was killed and his body was taken where they hollowed him out until he was nothing but a shell. He was empty inside. Now he’s one of Mortal Engines’ main antagonist, hopelessly and tirelessly chasing the main protagonists upon order of killing them.

Shrike is practically a bounty hunter on solo duties. He also has this weird but understandable hobby of collecting doll heads as he goes around places. It’s also pretty cool of the movie to stay faithful to how the character is described in the books.

Shrike is played by Stephen Lang and is definitely a character to watch out for.
