Will the good relationship between two countries continue?
April 17, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had a joint conference with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago Resort in South Florida. This is another meeting of the two leaders following their good relationship that started in February 2017 which they discussed the TTP (Trans-Pacific Partnerships) over a few swings in golf. It could be remembered that the dinner of President Trump and Prime Minister was interrupted by the news of the latest North Korean missile test where President trump convinced Prime Minister Abe to resolve the dispute of Pyongyang’s Nuclear Threat. Even though both leaders face many issues in their own country, they meet again to discuss more pressing issues.
Prime Minister Abe arrives
Many are at stake at the next meeting of President Trump and Prime Minister Abe. Tuesday afternoon the official visit of Prime Minister Abe started with a one-on-one meeting and a group discussion with regards to the upcoming summit with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un. The two leaders played gold and discussed issues including trade, energy, and the Indo-Pacific Region. Followed by the news conference held by President Trump and Prime Minister Abe.
Upcoming Summit of President Trump and Kim Jong Un
Trump will soon meet North Korea Leader, Kim Jong Un for a summit. The summit is in lieu with the months of issues on North Korea’s nuclear weapon program. North Korea’s government communicated with the US government indicating that they are ready to discuss issues on their nuclear weapons. Trump intends to see a peaceful Korea and halt the development of Nuclear weapons in North Korea. Trump is still negotiating with North Korea with regards to the three Americans on hold in the country. Abe also wants Trump to raise the issue of Japanese abductees.
Abe and Trump had a recent discussion that revolved around the talk on the nuclear threat by North Korea. In his speech, President Trump said that he hopes to the day that the whole Korean Peninsula can live in safety, prosperity, and peace. The US government is firm with its goal to denuclearize North Korea with maximum pressure and stop nuclear weapons in all parts of the world. In the press conference, President Trump mentioned that “If the meeting when I’m there is not fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting.”
Abe on the issue of denuclearization of North Korea stated: “We will demand that for all weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles of North Korea”. Prime Minister Abe added, “I’d like to commend Donald’s courage in his decision to have the upcoming summit meeting with the North Korean leader.”
President Trump promised faster delivery of military equipment purchased by its allies which he boasts to be the best in the world. On the issue of trade, President Trump said, “The United States is committed to free, fair and Reciprocal Trade. We are committed to pursuing a bilateral trading relationship that benefits both of our great countries”. Abe plans to create a new framework for bilateral talks as Trump gives emphasis to reduce the US trade deficit. The two leaders agreed to intensifies the trade and investment relationship in the Indo-Pacific Region.
The meeting with Prime Minister Abe and President Trump renews the relationship between the two countries. They are in unison in ending the nuclear weapon program of North Korea and improving their trade and commerce. This partnership greatly affects the people of two great nations. Denuclearization of North Korea will provide more security and safety of all the people in the world.
