It has been over a year since the first report of Walt Disney moving to purchase 21st Century Fox assets left every superhero fan in mixed array of excitement and ‘hows’. Now, the deal is coming to a close. The future of Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to shake up the history of Hollywood.
Despite the tumultuous approval process that the merger has gone through, Disney’s chairman of direct-to-consumer and international offers Kevin Mayer confirmed that the completion of the deal is just around the corner.
And while the deal is yet to complete, many are simply waiting what happens when these Fox-owned characters get back into the fold. Now the question for every Marvel fan remains: When will an MCU-backed ‘X-Men’ movie could start being developed? It has been confirmed by MCU super-producer and Marvel Entertainment head, Kevin Feige, during his interview with Variety that talks are well underway about merging the Fox-owned characters into the MCU and he expects to begin cracking these stories in the first half of 2019. So, to answer the question, the grandest reunion of all superheroes will happen very soon in a single universe.
If the events of “Avengers: Infinity War’ weren’t enough to guarantee a dramatic change in MCU, then the Disney-Fox merger will fill the banner. We might see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine or witness Ryan Reynolds’ merc-with-a-mouth get a crack at the next intergalactic threat posed to the Avengers, even experience the X-Men vs The Avengers down the track. Whatever story it might be, we sure will be overwhelmed with a whole slew of superheroes waiting to enter the MCU!
