The New Pope is a new HBO limited series and is actually a straight follow up of Paolo Sorrentino’s The Young Pope which showcased Jude Law’s great acting prowess. This time, Law is being joined by veteran actor John Malkovich and is basically the series’ newcomer.
As Jude Law’s character Lenny Belardo otherwise known as Pope Pius XIII grows a tad bit older, Malkovich waltzes in as the supposed new pontiff; movie stills show both men wearing papal clothes, thus the conclusion.
The show reportedly runs on eight episodes and even before anything else, Malkovich’s casting has been announced ever since then. The series is technically referred to as an anthology series and it will still include a lot of characters and storylines from the previous season. The show began their shooting in Rome and was later shot in the United Kingdom.
The film will also star Mark Ivanir from ‘Homeland’, Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Massimo Ghini, and so much more. It is set to release this year and is still directed by Paolo Sorrentino.
