The upcoming American monster film is causing excitement among Godzilla fans all over the world. With Michael Dougherty directing the film, moviegoers will once again witness the majesty of the legendary monster on the silver screen. This time around though, Godzilla isn’t the only one appearing on the screen. Aside from the King of the Monsters, other god-sized monsters from myths will awaken and go on a rampage around the world.

If you can’t wait for the film and want to prepare your heart for it, time for a refresher of your Godzilla knowledge! Here are the monsters that you will probably see in the 2019 movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

1. Godzilla, King of the Monsters

Godzilla is the god-sized reptilian monster of the MonsterVerse. By the way, MonsterVerse is the film universe encapsulating the Godzilla and King Kong film series. These films are all produced under the banner of Legendary Pictures. As the King of the Monsters, many theorize that he is the one who restores the balance to nature whenever this balance is disrupted. He doesn’t cause destruction on purpose. In addition, Godzilla shows signs of intelligence and higher thoughts. His archnemesis is believed to be Ghidorah.

2. Mothra, Queen of the Monsters

Mothra is a god-sized moth monster that will have its first appearance in the MonsterVerse with the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters film. Her existence in MonsterVerse has always been in the form of secret mythologies and cave paintings. But now, she’ll be appearing in person. She is described to have large wings, stocky head, and raptorial legs. In comparison to other monsters, Mothra shows more friendliness to humans. She even allows them to pet her. Mothra can emit beta-wave bioluminescence, which she weaponizes as god rays. Despite her size, she can fly at high speeds.

3. Rodan, King of the Skies

Mothra isn’t the only one who has the ability to fly when it comes to god-sized monsters. Rodan is the god-sized prehistoric flying reptile monster that fits best the title of King of the Skies. Aside from King of the Skies, he is also “The One Born of Fire”. Unlike Godzilla who is inherently neutral and Mothra who is friendly to humans, Rodan is aggressive in nature. This, then, fits him to be the destroyer in the film. Rodan possesses pyrokinetic abilities. His rock-like scales are perfect tools for him to blend in with rock formations and mountains. Of course, these scales also have the purpose of reinforcing his durability. Subsequently, these scales give him a natural geothermal armor. In addition, his massive wings can create strong sonic thunderclaps.

4. King Ghidorah, The One Who is Many

Dubbed as Monster Zero, King Ghidorah is Godzilla’s archnemesis. He is a god-sized three-headed dragon closely resembling a Hydra. He is also known to have a malevolent nature. Records left behind about him implies that he has some sort of rivalry with Godzilla. Ghidora’s skin has a layer of gold in it which becomes the perfect conductor for bioelectrical currents. This physique makes it possible for him to create tempests of lightning. He has wings which grant him the power of flight. Due to these wings, he can create hurricane-force winds. His main weapon is his gravity beams.

These monsters will go on an all-out battle with Godzilla: King of Monsters. Starring Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance, Sally Hawkins, and many more, the film will be released in theaters this coming May 31, 2019.
