Ever wonder why, after years of work, you are standing in a special spot on the globe trying to figure how and why you got there?  My spot was Moscow, Russia.  That was 1995.  My life’s work trip started in 1964 after being discharged from the Navy.  Well, it really began when I joined the Navy where I established my work and life patterns.

In my book “Dear George” I tried to make sense of it all as I sat in my Moscow apartment following work each day.  Its theme unfolded by a series of letters I wrote to my Guardian Angel who “responded” with his own, trying to answer the concerns expressed in my letters.  When you read “Dear George” you’ll understand why he was my contact.  I recommend you find a quiet spot to do your reading.

Man With Wings Standing on Brown Mountain Peak

Dear George” made the theme of my next book a little easier to develop because I had a better understanding of what its message should be.

Our Life in Boxes” allowed me to describe my life and work pattern through memories contained in the stuff I found in boxes I stored in the attic or basement which accumulated each time I returned from a work assignment or a visit somewhere in the world.  The paintings and art objects placed around the house added to the memories, too.  When you read “Our Life in Boxes” you will see how a person can learn a lot about other ways of life that shows how persons living in various parts of the world are similar as yours in what they want out of life.

About Richard Irwin

Learning the Ways of Life One Thought at a Time

I’m not a scientist or a member of academia, just an old guy who’s been to a few places in the world. I now have a college degree though. It’s in Business Management with a concentration in organizational behavior. The best educational opportunities came to me, though, as I moved from a small town in Montana to my current place in Connecticut. I’ve learned which end of the shovel o use and what it takes to build a small town on a desert alongside Red Sea. I know how to de-mine a mine field. I know what its like to live in a palace in Iraq. I used a slide rule to calculate molecular volume of any element on the chart of Nuclides as I prepared to be a reactor operator in the US Navy in my younger days. My iPhone now gives me what I want to know from the Internet. The local people in the countries I visited or worked in taught me what I did not receive from the books of my formal schooling. The Catholic Church gave me the perspective I needed to put all my experiences into proper context. All this was not to blow my own horn but to lay the foundation of how I see what is in front of me now.
