The Marvel Cinematic Universe is huge and almost every single one of us living on this planet is fully aware of that. If you haven’t heard of even one, just one, Marvel movie then you must be living under a rock. Suffice to say, there are plenty, and although released year after year, here is a list of all the MCU movies released in chronological order.

1. Iron Man (2008)

This is where it all started for MCU. The story revolves around the billionaire Tony Stark who develops a suit of armor after being abducted by terrorists. When free of his captors, he then returns home and upgrades his suit of armor and track down the person selling his weapons under the table.

Bruce Banner was a scientist but after being exposed to gamma radiation, he transforms into the gigantic Hulk every single time he gets mad. He then isolates himself from everyone but also, he’s basically on the run from the military who wishes to use him as a weapon.

Tony Stark returns but this time, he reveals himself to the world as Iron Man. The U.S. Government then tells him to surrender his technology. He also finds himself faced with various opponents including a rival industrialist and a Russian scientist.

Even as he is the crowned prince of Asgard, Thor is technically sort of a troublemaker. After starting a dormant war, his father, Odin, banishes him to Earth without his powers (or his trusty hammer). His brother, Loki, plots to take over Asgard basically egging Thor to prove himself to take back his powers and stop his brother.

 

5. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

The year is 1942 and World War II is currently happening. Protagonist Steve Rogers is physically unfit to enlist in the United States Military. Somehow, he gets inducted in a secret military operation where they experiment on him. He then is physically altered into a super soldier called Captain America. Strong as he is, he will need to prove himself by going against the Red Skull and Hydra.

S.H.I.E.L.D. assembles a group of superheroes including Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, and the Hulk to stop Thor’s brother Loki from taking over the Earth.

With Tony Stark at the peak of his career as Iron Man and a billionaire, he faces a rather formidable enemy called the Mandarin. They destroy his house and leave Tony by himself, as he figures things out his own way.

 

8. Thor: The Dark World (2014)

The God of Thunder Thor returns to Earth and gets together with Jane Foster, his love interest. This time, they have to investigate a group of portals that link different worlds. Thor then discovers an enemy of Dark Elves that have returned after a thousand years led by Malekith. This time, he must join Loki to defeat him.

Steve Rogers is now with S.H.I.E.L.D. and he’s off to uncover strange happenings that involve an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

 

10. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

The adventures of Peter Quill a.k.a Starlord across the galaxy. He is teamed up with Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, and Groot. Together they try to find ways to defeat Ronan – an antagonist bent in delivering chaos.

11. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

The team is back and this time, they are up against an enemy they did not expect: Ultron. He is a machine who will stop at nothing to keep the human race extinct. This is also where we first meet twins Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, as well as Vision.

Scott Lang is a common thief and has nothing better to do with his life, apparently. He meets Dr. Hank Pym and ends up helping him protect the Ant-Man technology, a technology which makes its user decrease in size but ups their strength by a ton, from the clutches of various villains.

This time, the Avengers are wedged into two opposing teams as the government tries to put them out of the story completely. With Iron Man leading the other team of superheroes and Captain America leading his own team, they face another threat: Helmut Zemo.

Stephen Strange is one of the world’s best neurosurgeon but after a car accident that ruins his career, he sets to find himself again only to end up encountering the “Ancient One”. He is taught the mystic arts of the world and with this, he must fight a group of powerful enemies that are hell-bent on destroying the Earth.

 

15. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

This group of misfits, lead by Starlord, travel the galaxy and help Peter discover more about his true identity.

Our friendly neighborhood Peter Parker struggles to balance superhero life and high school with the help of Tony Stark and his friends. He fights the Vulture and stops him from causing more chaos.

 

17. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor somehow ended up in a different planet without his trusty hammer, Mjolnir. Here he is made to battle the Hulk in gladiator style but more than that, he must return to his world to stop his half-sister Hela from making the Ragnarok happen.

Prince T’Challa returns home to his land to fight for his right as king of Wakanda. He also has to balance his roles as ruler and protector. He is faced with a difficult adversary, to add.

19. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

The team must join forces with another group this time: the Guardians of the Galaxy. They will have to stop the powerful Thanos from acquiring all the infinity stones before he can use it to destroy the galaxy.

Scott Lang returns but he has a lot of weight on his shoulders. He is under house arrest after the stunt he pulled in Civil War. He, however, manages to end up helping Dr. Pym and his daughter Hope, all in the condition that he works with Hope as the Wasp.
