Streep is one of the most amazing actresses of Hollywood, gaining fame for most of her movies, namely The Devil Wears Prada, Into the Woods, and Mama Mia. She had already proven her worth after bagging a couple of Oscars under her belt. For Streep, with her film credentials, it doesn’t really matter if she stars in the Mary Poppins Returns film or not. So what got her joining the said film’s ensemble? According to Streep, the film’s message of optimism is what got her drawn to it. It also has a fun element that made her love the script.

In Mary Poppins Returns, Streep will be playing the role of Mary’s cousin Topsy. She will be visited by Mary and the Banks children during the course of their adventure.

Streep’s song sequences are worth looking forward to. She gets her own catchy song penned by none other than the Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman duo. It will be too much of a spoiler now to mention when she’ll be singing her songs in the film so let’s leave it here.

Streep isn’t the only A-lister Hollywood celebrity in Mary Poppins Returns. Emily Blunt, who is playing the titular role of Mary Poppins, will be acting alongside other A-lister celebs like Colin Firth and Angela Lansbury.

Mary Poppins Returns will be on theaters this coming December 19. Check out our feature on Emily Blunt in our November issue.
