Pawel Pawlikowski

Pawel Pawlikowski’s the film “Cold War” won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Director. Pawlikowski’s directing career started in the late 50s, with many of his top films in the 60s and 70s. His film Ida (2013) won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film and is the first Polish film to receive the award.

Yorgos Lanthimos

Yorgos Lanthimos directed the film “The Favourite”. Lanthimos’ has made his mark in the industry with his macabre plots and dark-humored films. Several of his films received nominations in previous Academy Awards. Moreover, he has won in other festivals such as the Venice film festival and the Sydney film festival.

Adam McKay

Adam McKay entered the running for the film “Vice”. Many have noticed how he frequently works with Steve Carrell, Will Ferrell, and Christian Bale. His trademark is starting a film with a quote. McKay is known for his other works such as Talladega Nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) and The Big Short (2015).

Alfonso Cuarón

Alfonso Cuarón, the person behind “Roma”, is a well-celebrated director. He has received numerous awards on different film festivals for many of his films. On top of it all, his film, “Roma”, also received numerous nominations and awards. These nominations include Academy Award for Best Picture, Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Academy Award for Best Production Design, Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, Venice Film Festival Green Drop Award, Ariel Award for Best Direction, and many more. Cuarón is also known for his other films Children of Men (2006) and Gravity (2013).
