We all know that Deadshot is one of the vital members of the Suicide Squad. Will Smith, playing the role of an expert marksman villain, made it a point in the first Suicide Squad film to endear Deadshot to us. This is especially so when he played big brother to and established rapport with Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie).
However, it seems that Will Smith will no longer be suiting up for Deadshot’s role in Suicide Squad 2. Many reports have popped up that another actor will replace Will Smith in the sequel. Reports also said that the said move resulted from Smith having to back out of the sequel due to scheduling conflicts. Although not yet officially confirmed, it seems that Warner Bros. is looking into the possibility of casting actor Idris Elba as the new Deadshot.
Welcome to the Squad!
While Idris Elba’s involvement in the sequel film is not yet set in stone, there is still much joy online. After all, Elba is one of the qualified A-list actors who can replace Smith. Fans are looking forward to his performance as the deadly assassin in ‘Suicide Squad 2‘ which is set to premiere on August 6, 2021.
Aside from the confirmation of Elba’s role, who among the previous cast will return is still a question unanswered. However, there are strong voices saying that Margot Robbie will return to reprise her role as Harley Quinn. It has also been rumored that James Gunn will write and direct the film. Whether Gunn will have Jared Leto and the other Suicide Squad members return is currently up for discussion. In fact, it might even be possible that Gunn is building a new cast for the sequel film. Perhaps he plans to cast Dave Bautista in it as well?
The production of the sequel film will start this September 2019. Thus, the official news of who will be in the film may come anytime soon. Better keep your eyes peeled for that.
