When the hype for the Wonder Woman film has yet to die down, DCEU creative chief Geoff Johns has once again whet the fans’ appetite by sharing the first official teaser for the film’s sequel. The sequel, which will feature Gal Gadot and the unexpected (or expected?) return of Chris Pine, is entitled Wonder Woman 1984. It will be set in the 1980s in the United States and will pick up from where the last film left off.
The poster dropped on Johns’ Facebook page was released last June 1. Since then, it has been shared quite a number of times already. The said poster seems to be taken from the backdrop of the Cold War, a real historical event that happened in 1984. Patty Jenkins, the director at the helm of these two Wonder Woman films, revealed that the plot will fast forward from the events of World War I to the Cold War.
Some of the actors from the first Wonder Woman film will reprise their role in this sequel. Aside from Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, other stars who will come back include Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.
However, expect some new faces to appear in the film too. Kristen Wiig will be joining the cast to give life to the classic comic book villain Cheetah in WW84. Pedro Pascal, another new face, is set to play an undisclosed role in the film.
